The Aquatics & Sports Director will administer all functions related to the Aquatics & Sports Department with a direct focus on safety, recruitment of participants, retention, and customer service.

SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience Minimum 2 years experience working in Aquatics Programming Experience in sports programming, managing multiple locations, managing multiple staff Current CPR/AED/First Aid/Lifeguard Certification Volunteer or Staff supervision experience Knowledge of aquatics programming and safety issues Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) Knowledge of budgeting & expense control.
Excellent written and oral communication skills Certified Pool Operator Bilingual - English/Spanish Current O2 & Lifeguard Instructor Certification Experience teaching swim lessons PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES AND
Essential Functions:
Responsible for expense control & income generation for Aquatics & Sports Department Ensure growth in recruitment of participants in swim lessons and sports.
Increase retention of swim lesson participants.
Work toward increase in membership retention Work with Senior Program Director to ensure growth in membership sales due to & sports environment.
Recruit, develop and lead aquatics staff including lifeguards, swim instructors and pool attendants.
Recruit, develop and lead sports staff Achieve goals set for a director in For A Better Us Campaign.
Recruit, develop, and retain volunteers in aquatics as well as fundraising.
Work with Senior Program Director to ensure all pool operations align with Tulsa Health Department and YMCA of Greater Tulsa operating guidelines.
Responsible for ensuring that all aquatics & sports facilities are maintained to expected levels of cleanliness Communicate with branch and association leadership staff so members are aware of all programs & opportunities available to them.
Assist with annual promotion plan for all aquatics & sports programs including flyers, brochures, website, newsletter, news releases, advertisements, etc.
Coordinate scheduling of pool parties with branch staff so facility operates seamlessly.
Accurate and timely with all assignments, deadlines, etc.
Responsible for all communication coming from Aquatics & Sports to the branch team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
High level of concentration and aptitude for learning a wide variety of program information and new computer applications.
Physically able to tour members inside and outside facility as needed.
Physically able to lift 35
pounds.
Physically able to sit at a computer station for extended periods of time.
Physically able to sit or stand during lifeguard shifts, make all needed rescues, instruct swim lessons & move through facility as needed.
Ability to speak distinctly to communicate with customers and staff on the phone or in person.
Patience to deal with 5 or more people at the same time.
Sound judgment and problem-solving skills for dealing with daily issues in a variety of situations.

Schedule all staff hours keeping in mind budgetary constraints and participant/staff ratios.
Schedule all aquatic swim classes and open swim times to provide the most effective and efficient use of space and needs of members.
Approve time worked for staff in areas of responsibility.
Hold monthly staff meetings and/or training sessions with all staff.
Set close limits and check enrollments of all classes based on staffing and participant/instructor ratios.
Offer up-to-date annual evaluations and expectations for all staff.
Maintain up-to-date salary and supply control records.
Provide department program information in a timely manner to the Front Desk.
Do Swim Lesson Evaluations after each set of lessons.
Research, process, and approve all refund/credit requests for the department.
Develop all fliers, handouts, news releases, brochure copy, job postings, etc.
necessary to promote the Aquatic program.
Develop pool usage schedules for lap and open swim times for all YMCA members each session.
Schedule and staff summer camp and recreational swim times during the summer.
Schedule and staff all community/outreach swim lessons during the summer months.
Schedule and staff a one-week Safety Around Water program once per year.
YMCA Sports Department Direct all sports activities with an emphasis on those that affect membership growth, retention, and as well as a increase in Net Promoter in sports and retention of sports participants from season to season.
Recruit, hire, train, and develop sports leadership staff as needed as well as implement training opportunities for cultivation of YMCA staff.
Manage & lead sports team as well as effectively communicate with team, branches, participants, and community.
Schedule all staff hours keeping in mind budgetary constraints and participant/staff ratios.
Schedule all sports programs to provide the most effective and efficient use of space and needs of members.
Approve time worked for staff in areas of responsibility.
Hold monthly staff meetings and/or training sessions with all staff and volunteers.
Offer up-to-date annual evaluations and expectations for all staff.
Maintain up-to-date salary and supply control records.

Responsible for all purchases, tracking, and monitoring of the Aquatics and Sports budget.
Financial Development, Community Development, Volunteer Involvement Work on the United Way Campaign.
Be the staff liaison to a team of the annual For A Better Us Campaign.
Work with surrounding individuals, builders, and organizations to provide services and trainings through YMCA Aquatics programs.
Work with municipalities to offer management opportunities for their programs, i.

, community and sub-division pools and aquatics programs.
Work with Hispanic Communities to recruit staff, volunteers, and participants.
Operations All reports and assignments must be completed by all set deadlines.
Lead and make sound and well-thought-out judgments and decisions as it relates to staff, operations, and member concerns.
All pools and procedures align with THD and Y-USA operating guidelines.
Attend all mandatory trainings and meetings as set forth by Executive Director and Association.
Support the mission and values of the YMCA.
Be open and willing to perform other tasks asked of you.
