Summary:
Provides security services to the District's schools and school grounds.
Establishes and maintains a close partnership with school administrators and School Resource Officers (SRO) in order to provide a safe school environment.
Assists school officials with their efforts to enforce the Board of Education policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:

Adheres to and follows the District's policies and regulations.
Works closely with the Director of Safety and Security and District administrators to develop and implement a site safety and security plan.
Patrols District buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and inappropriate and illegal activity.
Conducts patrol inspections of building entrances and exits to determine building security.
Patrols school grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles, checks cars for parking authorization, determines if vehicles are parked improperly or in restricted areas and issues citations when appropriate.
Works to prevent crime and disorder through close contact, and positive interactions and relationships with students.
Implements District emergency action procedures when appropriate.
Prepares written reports as instructed by the Director of Safety and Security.
Attends and completes assigned in-service training programs.
Attends, monitors and patrols during school activity events to ensure safety, security, and orderly conduct of everyone.
Works with administrators, teachers, counselors, SRO's, and other student support staff to assist students and to provide services to students involved in situations where referrals to service agencies are necessary.
Works with other agencies in a multijurisdictional environment.
Works shift work with fluctuating schedules as necessary to meet the needs of the department and the district.
Assists in conflict resolution efforts and peacekeeping services to the schools.
Provides guidance and supervision during on site searches to ensure the safety of staff and students.
Assists school administrators by providing a smooth flow of traffic entering and exiting school property.
Communicates effectively.
Works well with both supervisors and other members of the team.
Maintains consistent and punctual attendance.
Assists with special projects.
All other duties as assigned by the director.

EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of law enforcement and/or armed security experience required.
Meets all standards to be a CLEET-licensed Armed Security Guard - Phase IV set forth in state law, including but not limited to:
Be a citizen of the United States or an alien legally residing in the United States Be at least least twenty-one (21) years of age Have no felony convictions or other disqualifying convictions
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Computer literate; excellent organizational skills; excellent written and oral communication ability.
Ability to follow all district policies and procedures.
Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done.
Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing.
Effectively communicate and coordinate details of training with trainees, director, secretary, mechanics, and state instructors.
Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player.
Ability to document records accurately.
Ability to listen effectively.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
Ability to handle the stress of a security position.
Passes physical fitness requirements listed in the Physical Demands section of this job description.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, emergency instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff and students.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out written and oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Oklahoma driver's license.
Possess and maintain a current Council of Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) Armed Security Guard License-Phase IV, including annual firearms recertification training/testing Security Guard License - Phase IV throughout employment, including annual firearms recertification training/testing.
State Certified Law Enforcement Officer (CLEET Certification) or Certified Army Security Officer (CLEET Standards) preferred.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk much of the day while patrolling and interacting with students and staff on school property.
Must be able to occasionally lift light and heavy objects, use tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, operate firearms and utilize the appropriate physical dexterity and force to apprehend suspects.
Must possess the visual acuity necessary to observe surroundings, identify persons, detect danger, read licenses and tags and possess the aural acuity to understand conversations in quiet and noisy environments and understand radio transmissions.
