Summary:
The Youth and Family Program Coordinator oversees operations and maintenance of Youth and Family programs and activities at the Owasso Community Center.
The Youth and Family Program Coordinator plans, organizes, implements and supervises recreation youth and family programs for the community such as social-recreation activities, arts (fine arts and performing arts) and crafts, educational programs and trips/excursions.
The position works with other community agencies to act as an information clearinghouse for the community.
While this position oversees the day-to-day work of several part-time employees, work is performed under the general supervision of the Community Center Manager.
Salary:

Essential Functions:
Plans, organizes, implements and supervises recreation programs for the City of Owasso Youth and Family Program such as social-recreation activities, arts (fine arts and performing arts) and crafts, educational programs, and trips/excursions Maintains various paper and digital records including income, expenses, and statistical records for the City of Owasso Youth and Family Program Prepares correspondence and reports on a computer as directed by the Community Center Manager, or as needed Interviews and selects new instructors with the approval of the Community Center Manager Provides orientation and coordination of on-the-job training for new instructors and volunteers, including adults and minors Directs and oversees the day-to-day work of Recreation Technicians and seasonal employees May maintain the appearance of the Community Center by picking up trash, light custodial duties during programming for restrooms and or facilities, set up/tear down and clean up after a City program is finished for the day Recruits, trains, and coordinates community volunteers Digitally maintains inventory list of recreational activity equipment, supplies, and purchases, as necessary Prepares and releases publicity for activities with the approval of the Community Center Manager and in coordination with the Recreation and Culture Department overall marketing plan Evaluates reports and recommends necessary action to the Community Center Manager Develops and maintains good relationships with community groups including City Partners Responsible for establishing and maintaining good safety practices and procedures Performs minor maintenance and upkeep at City facilities as needed during and after activities Responsible for handling and transporting in person payments for City fee for class programs Performs other duties as directed in a manner which supports the vision, goals, and strategic objectives as well as the overall effectiveness of the organization Minimum Qualifications, Experience and/or Education:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Valid Oklahoma Driver's License Two years of experience as a recreation leader or related experience in a public or private recreation program involving the planning, scheduling, implementation and supervision of recreation programs for community including youth and family and/or senior citizens, or may substitute successful completion of college level course work in recreation, physical education, or a related field for the experience, and/or recreation-related certification such as CFRP Ability to work well with all ages Obtain First Aid/CPR certificate within 6 months after hire date Ability to coordinate a variety of activities and possess good organizational skills Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Office Suite Must be able to pass a drug screen, criminal background check, and credit check Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Working Environment and Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in various environments including an indoor office setting at the Community Center, and outdoors, where a great deal of mobility is required for attendance at various worksites, meetings and activities, sometimes in all types of weather conditions including extreme temperatures, hot and cold, and wet and/or humid conditions, exposed to low to moderate noises and sounds, and may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
The job may involve some local travel and/or work in the evening or during the night hours.
Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing department policies and procedures.
Physical requirements - Use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; frequently required to sit; and occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
May occasionally be required to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
